Learning Support – Lloyd and Sarah
A brief outline of the dedicated efforts of our Learning Support Team.
Here at Marland Residential School, we are committed to nurturing and empowering our students through tailored educational support and compassionate guidance.
At the core of our work is the belief that every student deserves a supportive environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Learning Support Team plays a pivotal role in creating and sustaining this environment by:
- Personalised Learning Plans: Crafting individualised learning plans that cater to the unique needs and strengths of each student.
- Emotional Well-being: Fostering emotional well-being through targeted interventions and supportive mentoring. Including THRIVE sessions and use of the sensory suite.
- Skill Development: Equipping students with essential life skills and strategies to navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
The learning support team offer:
- Specialised Support: Expertise in addressing the educational and emotional needs of students with SEMH challenges. This can include Personalised coaching sessions or supportive listening.
- Collaborative Approach: Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support and continuity of care including a restorative approach to incidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing and adapting support strategies to meet the evolving needs of our students.
Our ultimate goal is to support our young people through their individual challenges and barriers to education using relational practice so that they may return to a classroom-based learning environment, at whatever stage this occurs.
