Plymouth Trip

Students enjoyed a school trip to Plymouth aiming to link real world experiences from a range of cross- curricular themes from THRIVE, Home Cooking Skills and Work Skills.

Pupils investigated job opportunities at Drakes Circus Shopping Centre, observing customer service roles and possible job opportunities at stores including Foot Locker, M&S and JD Sports.

There are many modes of transport the students explored including buses, trains and walking routes. This gave them an understanding on how they could travel to and from places, college and/or work and accessing essential amenities in the Plymouth surrounding area.

Food was another important focus as students compared a variety of meal choices from cafés, supermarkets and fast-food outlets discussing healthy options, budgeting and the skills needed to plan meals.

The trip provided a valuable opportunity for students to build independence, develop practical life skills and strengthen their understanding on potential job opportunities.
