Calvert Trust Residential Trip

Marland Residential took 7 young people on a two-night, three days trip to Calvert trust on Exmoor

Day 1 - We arrived just after lunch, and everyone was allocated their rooms. Because we had a bit of down time the boys decided to stay in their rooms.

Our first activity was Horse riding and grooming, all the boys took part and appeared to have a nice time. Just before tea time the group went for a swim. After tea the group had some more free time which they chose to go into the games room to play pool and table football. Evening activity was a night walk, again all young people took part and appeared to enjoy the walk around the lake.

On arriving back to the site all young people went to their rooms and settled very well.

Day 2 - All young people up and ready for breakfast, all appeared to have had a restful night.

AM: Activities started at 10am and it was rock climbing and bouldering, again all students took part and took turns at climbing and then belaying.

PM: The afternoon activities were a bike ride around the lake but on specially adapted three wheeled bikes, all students took part and appeared to enjoy the experience of doing something different. The afternoon was finished off by a swim.

Evening: After tea all students joined in the Calvert Olympics which had a bit of a twist in it because they used wheelchairs, all students participated and had a really good laugh.

All students very tired after a hectic day and went to their bedrooms and settled very well.

Day 3 - All young people awake but some choose not to get up for breakfast. Once breakfast was finished all students packed up their belongings ready to load the van.

AM. Activity this morning was abseiling and zip wire once again all students took part and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the experiences.

This was a very enjoyable few days with lots of young people pushing themselves outside of their comfort zone and achieving a lot more than they thought when starting the week.
